Screamfest LA 2013 Exclusive: Opening Night Photo GalleryScreamfest LA 2013 kicked off with a bloody bang last night in North Hollywood, CA, at the Laemmle NoHo 7, and we were there to shoot the black carpet, catch the premiere of Ben Ketai’s feature Beneath, and hit the opening night party. Read on!

Gracing the carpet, in addition to director Ketai, were Beneath cast members Kelly Noonan, Joey Kern, Eric Etebari, Lauren Gores and Rene Rivera, along with producers Kelly Wagner and Nick Phillips. Joining them for opening night were the following Screamfest 2013 film selection attendees (take a breath): director Matt Eskandari and writer Matt Lawson of The Gauntlet, The Banishing’s director Erlingur Ottar Thoroddsen and writer Brian McAuley, The Summoners‘ filmmaker Christian Ackerman, director Paul Hyett (The Seasoning House), Frost producer Ingvar Thordarson, director Samuel Gonzalez Jr. and actress Danielle Adams of Woodland Heights, Luna director Antonio Perez, director of Cannon Fodder Eitan Gafny, director Gavin Williams (Sleepworking), director John Fitzpatrick (Skypemare), filmmaker Michael S. Ojeda and producer Jason Gurvitz (Savaged), director Jose Poernomo, producers Ram and Rocky Soraya and stars Shandy Aulia and Denny Sumargo of 308, Screamfest alum (for Splinter) and editor of Beneath Toby Wilkins, The Barista writer Dave McKendry and director Rebekah McKendry, Drudge director Kheireddine El-Helou and star Cameron Simmons, Black Sugar director Hanke Friedmann, director Marwan Abderrazzaq and actor Jason Masek of Desolate Road, The Wretched Prologue producer Collin Watts and director Richard Greenwood, The Hunted writer, director and producer Josh Stewart with producers Patrick Rizzotti and Brett Forbes, and Schism’s Adam Gierasch, Jace Anderson and Callum Blue.

Also on hand were King of Miseries producer Michael Hayes and writer and director Brian Netto and producer and co-writer Adam Schindler of Delivery, as were actresses Cerina Vincent (Skypemare) and Bobbi Sue Luther (Night of the Demons).

Following the sold-out screening of the claustrophobic and intense “miners trapped by a mine collapse” flick Beneath, the festivities continued at the nearby The Brickyard pub with an open bar, on-site masseuses, an entirely cool photo booth courtesy of Screamfest and co-sponsor FEARnet, and plenty of schmoozing.

Said Beneath director Ketai following the screening, “I’m overwhelmed by the love and support from friends and family that came out to the premiere of Beneath at Screamfest. I am beyond humbled by the incredible group of people that, after all these years, I still get to call my friends. Thank you for helping me have an incredible evening.”
