Former “Doctor Who” star Matt Smith is getting ready to shed his dealings with the Daleks in favor of taking a stab at everyone’s favorite American Psycho on the big stage in the UK. Read on for details.
According to The New York Times, Smith will play the bloodthirsty Patrick Bateman in a London stage musical adaptation of American Psycho.
Adapted from the controversial Bret Easton Ellis novel about a mentally unbalanced young professional, American Psycho: The Musical will be presented at Almeida Theater from December 3, 2013, through January 25, 2014. It features a score by Duncan Sheik, the Tony Award-winning composer of Spring Awakening, and a book by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, who has also written for “Glee” and contributed to the Broadway musical Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark. Rupert Goold directs.
