Even Hall seems to be sleep-walking through this season. Dexter’s behavior has been downright idiotic this year and it just shows that the actor is on auto-pilot if he agreed to go along with some of these stupid character decisions.

Nah, Hall has done some great work this yeah, even in spite of the script.

Going back two weeks, the bit where he shows Vogel the video of Zach being killed is awesome. Half psychotic glee and half revulsion that shows us Dexter, the character, is still at odds with himself. And last week, during Angel’s goodbye reception, the awkward discomfort mixed with genuine emotion on Dexter’s face was fantastic.

Hall is why I’m still on board. I don’t think the guy has ever phoned it in. He’s the very definition of a great actor because he consistently rises about the material.

Not on par. Rushed, sloppy and careless. The whole season plays like the writers came up with first drafts and that’s what they shot.

But I still don’t think this season has been quite the disaster that people are making it out to be. I guess that comes from the show starting out great and shriveling. But I still like the character of Dexter and his journey towards humanity. As such, I still don’t mind the season.

Admittedly, “I don’t mind it” is a pretty shoddy way to end things. But I’m still entertained by Dexter.
