News came out of the Cannes Film Festival earlier this year that Nicolas Cage had signed on for a role in the upcoming thriller Hotel 33, but it seems he checked out as soon as he checked in. That makes us sad, but today’s new cast announcement makes us happy again.
Variety reported today that Jason Patric will star in the movie, which is expected to commence filming in January of next year. No word on if he will be taking over the role Cage was originally going to play, but it seems that’s the case.
Written and directed by first-time director Kellie Madison, Hotel 33 centers around a small town Pennsylvania detective interrogating a college student regarding the disappearance of his friend at a haunted hotel where dozens of people went missing in 1953.
Open Road Films will distribute the thriller, produced by Emmet/Furla/Oasis Films.
