Should I play devil’s advocate and say, “Well, at least we don’t have to look at an all CG Robocop for the entire movie?” There’s that…I guess…even though mechanical things actually work really well in CG…and the black suit looks like ass. How about black? How about no. And why is the eye slit so narrow? For some reason that drove me nuts. And ED-209 (or the equivalent) looks awful, like this entire clusterfuck of a film.

I guarantee they left him one hand so that he can look down at it and ponder his fleeting humanity or some such bullshit. Or there’s going to be some stupid twist with fingerprints. Or they mixed up the words “tactile” and “tactical” and just said go with it anyway.

Fuck the suit, what I’ll miss is the movement Peter Weller used to sell RoboCop’s robotic nature. You can tell he did his homework on that character. The Killing dude looks like he phoned this fucker in, just a guy in a suit. Fuck that.

And I bet the soundtrack won’t have a theme as awesome as the original.

Yeah, looks like they’re going to skirt around that issue by having him “keep his humanity” or some such bullshit. Someone said it looks like Iron Cop and I totally agree. Looks and feels like a dude in a shitty looking suit. Plus it has that swooshy visor thing much like Iron Man’s helmet. Ya know, for the kids.

    This is just awful.

First off, how is one exposed human hand tactical?

One of the important elements of Verhoeven’s original is when OCP makes a conscious decision to “lose” Murphy’s one remaining arm – taking away what would’ve been one of his last vestiges of humanity.

The fact that this RoboCop can flip up his visor so we can see the actor’s face on a regular basis is obnoxious. More so because he’s not disfigured or “ugly” in anyway. Completely safe and toothless.

This doesn’t just look forgettable, it looks pretty awful. And I’m halfway through the script right now. Not sure if it’s the shooting script or an earlier draft but it’s really fucking bad. The last time I objected so much to a script was when I slogged through the script to Rob Zombie’s Halloween.

The original suit was designed over twenty fucking years ago and it still looks more believable than this abomination. Absolutely pathetic.

  • Chernobyl Kinsman

The helmet ruins all of them.. why is it so hard to design a non-shitty helmet?

  • LifeMi

The classic suit would look good if it weren’t for the helmet; that helmet kills the whole look

  • Rottenjesus

Even the new gun looks lame compared to the original. There’s a reason that the Alex P. Murphy handgun is in BLOOD DRAGON you know.

    • Chernobyl Kinsman

      And Saints Row 4!

  • Uncle Creepy

You know I kinda dig the look of the more classic suit. Damn you Michael Keaton! LOL
