Sharknado Returns to Fan-Chosen Theaters on September 2nd!Though it’s been well over a month since the film premiered on Syfy and took the nation by storm, Sharknado fever is showing no signs of slowing down, and the shark-infested tornado is once again headed back to the big screen. But where it plays is all up to YOU!

From the Press Release
Inspired by the success of Fathom Events’ limited engagement of SHARKNADO on August 2, The Asylum is giving fans nationwide another opportunity to see the new cult classic in theaters one more time before its home entertainment debut. Fans can submit their requests online to have SHARKNADO screen in their town as part of a special, one-night only theatrical engagement on September 2. Locations will be announced based on fan submissions.

Fathom’s August 2 SHARKNADO event sold out theaters in L.A., New York, Chicago, Boston, Dallas, and Seattle, necessitating the last-minute addition of new theaters and screens in several cases. The red carpet held at the Regal Cinemas at L.A. Live in downtown Los Angeles was especially packed with fans and reporters eager to glimpse the stars of the film.

“SHARKNADO was a terrific event for Fathom and, most importantly, the fans of this instant cult classic,” said Shelly Maxwell, executive vice president of Fathom Events. “And considering it had only one midnight showing in just over 200 theaters, we are very pleased with the results.”

The Tugg screenings on September 2 will give fans the unusual opportunity to see the film with friends on the big screen the day before its wide release on DVD, VOD, and streaming. Allowing fans the chance to decide where the film plays and to host local events provides the perfect premiere environment.

The Asylum’s distribution guru David Garber notes, “SHARKNADO has been an amazing phenomenon that has created its own storm of media, licensing deals, a sequel, and new release opportunities. Fans have helped create this success, and we continue to support their enthusiasm with new and different distribution models.”
