Synopsis
When high school student Charlie attends a study abroad program with his horror-obsessed friend “Evil” Ed and ex-girlfriend Amy in Romania, he soon discovers their young attractive professor Gerri (Jaime Murray, “Dexter”) is a real life vampire. Too bad no one believes him. In fact, Evil Ed finds it amusing, and it only feeds his vampire obsession. When Gerri turns Ed, Charlie seeks out Peter Vincent, the infamous vampire hunter (well, he plays one on TV) who is in Romania filming his show “Fright Night,” to teach him how to take down Gerri before she gets to Amy, whose blood will cure Gerri of spending eternity as a vampire.

As a fan of Return of the Living Dead Part 2, I don’t really care if they ignore the last movie and re-remake the whole thing. …but did they have to make it look like a syfy original? I mean, they surely could’ve done better than that, right? Ugh.

    Fright Night 2: Shite Night!

I’m someone who didn’t hate the remake. This might’ve been because I watched it right after the Conan remake, which was a huge fucking letdown, so maybe my expectations were lowered enough to enjoy it more, but I liked it. I wish they’d had some more crazy monster effects in it but that was my only real complaint.

This one though, everyone else has hit the head; it looks like they’re remaking the first two movies AND the remake and blending them together and rushed through it. Though I don’t think it looks as bad as American Werewolf in Paris.

Oh Robert, you poor misguided soul. Conan was at least watchable. Fright Night is totally forgettable. The only thing I remember about that one is some really shitty CGI and….that’s it. Conan had some good action, a hot witch and The Pearlman. It was just about what I expected from a remake.

You’re right about American Werewolf in Paris, though. NOTHING is worse than that. The trailer reminded me of it because they took the premise to a foreign land, threw a babe in it and looks like garbage. Don’t know why, I haven’t seen that since it came out.

Conan’s opening was watchable. The only scene that I really enjoyed was when little Conan killed the shit out of those guys at the beginning. As soon as Ron Perlman died, the downward spiral began. And it really baffled me how underwhelming Jason Momoa was as Conan because I’d just seen him as Khal Drogo on Game of Thrones which was basically the same character and was written and portrayed much better. Oh, and I liked Rachel Nichols. That’s about all I got from that movie. It was dull, unimaginative, and the climax was weak as hell, just like Pathfinder. The bottom line is Marcus Nispel needs to stay away from ancient fantasy movies because he makes his movies too small, which can work fine in a horror movie, but not in something like Conan the Barbarian.

I think ultimately I liked Fright Night more because I had really high hopes for Conan and no expectations for Fright Night and then I saw them back to back on the same day. Conan was insanely disappointing whereas Fright Night didn’t really suck to me. Plus I liked Anton and Imogen as Charlie and Amy, which is something about the original. While I do love the original movie for Chris and Roddy and the effects and atmosphere, the writing and acting by the three teenage leads nearly killed the movie for me. I might be in the minority on that but whatever.

I still want to know why exactly Foy hated Conan though, because they never talked about it on DFF other than Foy saying he almost walked out and calling Creepy an idiot numerous times, lol.

“As soon as Ron Perlman died, the downward spiral began”

I find this happens in almost every movie Ron Pearlman is in =(

  • aliensharkboy

I may be one of the few to have actually enjoyed the remake… but WTF is this?!?!

  • Uncle Creepy

It’s like okay, violate the corpse of the original film and its sequel. And then violate the corpse of the remake as well? I’m speechless!

    • theGoldenSimatar

Honestly, it doesn’t look quite as bad as I thought. Yeah it’s in name only (willing to bet it was a preexisting script rewritten) but I’m going to try to take it ignoring the title.

At least it seems to have some production value.

  • Sirand

People actually got paid to make this.

  • NeoKefka

So…it’s a sequel to a remake that’s basically a remake of the movie its a sequel to disguised as a remake of the sequel to the original movie which was basically a remake of the original…and Jesus Christ, I’ve got a headache.

  • Uncle Creepy

This trailer completely defies the space time continuum.

  • kiddcapone

I am sooooo confused…If I think about this too much, I may suffer an embolism…

  • Uncle Creepy

Jesus Christ! It’s like they remade all of the fright night flicks into one movie. I’m stymied!

  • LSD Zombie

That line reading of “Welcome to Fright Night, for real!” is worse than the entirety of the first remake. Just atrocious.

    • nazo

He’s reading that like the next line is turning to the camera to say, “are you happy now, motherfuckers?”

This looks absolutely dreadful, and I have a weird feeling that Fini is going to defend it on a future DFF. Maybe it’s the Howling 2 vibes.

      • Matt Serafini

        How dare you, sir.

  • frank_dracman

It looks like An American Werewolf in Paris. Think I’m gonna pass.
