Fantasia 2013: Make Your Return to Nuke 'Em High with Lloyd KaufmanJust as millions of kids will soon be finding themselves returning to school, Lloyd Kaufman and his friends over at Troma are also gearing up for a return to class, and the curriculum calls for reading, writing, and radiation.

Next week Troma premieres the long awaited sequel to its 1986 splatter classic Class of Nuke ‘Em High, a two-part affair that’s fittingly titled Return to Nuke ‘Em High: Volume 1 (review). And at this year’s Fantasia Film Festival, they’ve got more than just a screening of Volume 1 of the mega film in store for their diehard fans!

From the Press Release
Greetings from Tromaville! The cast and producers of Return to Nuke ‘Em High: Volume 1, including stars Catherine Corcoran and Asta Paredes, will join director Lloyd Kaufman on stage for a post-screening panel discussion at the 2013 Fantasia Intl. Film Festival in Montreal, Canada, on Friday, August 2nd, at 11:55 PM in the Imperial Theatre.

The announcement comes on the heels of the release of an exclusive Return to Nuke ‘Em High: Volume 1 Fantasia collectible, limited edition poster, commissioned by Troma and Anchor Bay Films, which will be on sale from 4PM – 2AM, along with Troma DVDs, Blu-rays, T-shirts, posters, and other Tromabilia in the main lobby of the Imperial Theatre. In addition to Lloyd Kaufman and the stars of Return to Nuke ‘Em High, fans will also have a chance to meet and take photos with classic Troma characters like the Toxic Avenger and Sgt. Kabukiman, NYPD! Unlike other celebrities, Kaufman and the Troma stars do not charge for autographs and will sign the exclusive Fantasia 2013 poster and any pieces of Tromabilia for FREE!

Quentin Tarantino has been a fan and friend of Troma for years, and when he made Kill Bill in two volumes to create an “Event Film,” Lloyd Kaufman took note. “Michael Herz and I decided that to mark Troma’s upcoming 40th year we, too, would produce an ‘Event Film’ in two volumes just like Quentin did,” says Kaufman, “except slightly less lavish in the budget department.”

Return to Nuke ‘Em High: Volume 1 & 2, directed by Lloyd Kaufman, is a hilarious, thoughtful sci-fi Event Film with themes ripped straight from today’s headlines: the contamination and degradation of the world’s food supply, rampant bullying, LGBTQ love triumphing over prejudice and violence. The film, a revisiting of Troma’s 1986 Class of Nuke ‘Em High is in the same vein as other classics such as Class of 1984, Rock ‘n’ Roll High School, and Carrie, but seen through the unique vision of Lloyd Kaufman and the Troma Team.

Welcome to Tromaville High School where, unfortunately, the glee club has mutated into a vicious gang of Cretins. Chrissy and Lauren, two innocent lesbian lovers, must fight not only the Cretins, mutants, and monsters, but also the evil Tromorganic Foodstuffs conglomerate. Can they and Kevin the Wonder Duck save Tromaville High School and the world?
