The Bigger Picture Films Announces Teen Horror #Hashtag and Big-Budget Sci-Fi Trilogy Planet XBritish filmmaker Tim Burke’s The Bigger Picture Films has several projects in the works, including social media teen horror film #Hastag and sci-fi trilogy Planet X. Read on for the details of both.

The Bigger Picture Films is announcing this week a slate of high-concept, big-budget projects partly funded by new movie investment company TheMovieFund.com.

MTV producer/director Tim Burke has penned and will executive produce the Planet X trilogy, a sci-fi fantasy adventure set on an alien planet and planet Earth in the past, present, and future. The Bigger Picture Films production company has partnered with blockbuster producer Michael Levy (Lara Croft, Demolition Man, Predator, The Last Boy Scout, Die Hard 2) to bring Planet X to the big screen.

Screenwriter and executive producer Burke offers of the films, “Featuring all aspects of the UFO phenomenon, counter-culture, conspiracy underworlds, the Illuminati, and questioning our own belief systems, the Planet X trilogy intends to be a highly controversial and explosive series with state-of-the-art CGI in an epic storyline of time travel, different dimensions, and ancient alien bloodlines.”

With the new Star Wars on the way and Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar in the works, “Planet X plans to be a major new science fiction franchise,” Burke continues. “We will be committing a large amount of resources, raised by The Movie Fund, to the project with an emphasis on a major new toy franchise to accompany it.”

Burke’s The Bigger Picture Films also aims to produce a diverse slate of high-concept features, including the biopic/musical feature The Famous Player’s Club, modern-day drama The Second Coming, and The Hangover-style comedy Vegas Baby, as well as a low-budget horror slate with the first out of the gate being the social media teen horror #Hashtag.

“#Hashtag will be in the same vein as Scream and I Know What You Did Last Summer,’” offers Burke, “but with a new production format and a contemporary twist to the traditional boogeyman storyline.”

The Bigger Picture Films, with its roots in technology having worked on Universal Picture’s Miami Vice mobile portal, is also set to launch a “first of its kind” digital movie platform which will allow directors, producers, and filmmakers a “one-stop shop” for distributing and marketing movies online and tracking marketing expenditure and social media buzz against online video revenue for the first time.
