American Movie and Coven Playing The Hollywood Forever Cemetery

Post Thumb:

American Movie and Coven Playing The Hollywood Forever CemeteryOn August 8 the Sundance Institute and Cinespia will team up to bring you the ultimate cult classic double feature. And the location? We’re glad you asked. It’s the Hollywood Forever Cemetery in Los Angeles.

The event will kick off the Sundance Institute’s first ever Los Angeles film festival. It will feature a back-to-back showing of Chris Smith’s iconic documentary American Movie (one of the New York Times’ Best 1,000 Movies Ever Made). Also showing is the subject of and inspiration for that film, Coven, directed by Mark Borchardt. Both directors will be present and introduce their films.

WHAT: The film festival will kick off with an outdoor screening of Chris Smith’s iconic cult documentary American Movie and Mark Borchardt’s horror film Coven at Cinespia at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery. Mark Borchardt will introduce Coven, and Chris Smith will introduce American Movie. Sundance Institute members will have priority admittance via a members-only line for this event at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery. This screening is co-presented with Acura.

Sundance Institute will present four days of screenings, parties and artist programs that celebrate the renegade spirit of independent filmmaking. The event is an extension of the popular NEXT section at the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah, which showcases stylistically adventurous films that take a bold approach to storytelling.

WHEN: Thursday, August 8. Doors open at 7:00 p.m.; screening begins at 8:30 p.m.

WHERE: Cinespia at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery, 6000 Santa Monica Boulevard, Los Angeles, CA 90038
