Sharknado Goes Theatrical!Just when you thought it was safe to go back to the theatre… in an unprecedented move by the Syfy Channel, the madness of their surprise juggernaut hit Sharknado is going theatrical. Yes, you read that right. Somewhere out there right now… angels are high-fiving!

Variety reports that the flick is getting a one-night-only cinema replay, with Regal Entertainment Group set to stage midnight showings of the creature feature on about 200 screens next Friday night, August 2nd. Madness! Madness, I say!

Tickets are priced at $12.50 apiece. Will you be there? Gotta say, we’re really thinking about going! If only for the lunacy of the occasion.

Keeping up the Shark-Mentum, Syfy will repeat Sharknado on Saturday, July 27, at 9PM as part of an all-day Sharkathon movie festival from 9AM-5AM that will include such classics as Sharktopus, Two-Headed Shark Attack, and Swamp Shark.

Sharknado will also air on Saturday, August 22, at 7PM, leading into the Original Movie Ghost Shark, about a great white shark, tortured and killed by a fisherman, who returns as an unfriendly ghost to exact vengeance on the human race. The movie stars Mackenzie Postman and Richard Moll.

As for Sharknado 2, this time the flying sharks will attack Manhattan. It will again be produced by The Asylum and is scheduled to premiere on Syfy in 2014.

Syfy also announced a special Twitter contest to help name the movie with an appropriate subtitle. Fans can tweet their suggestions to @SyfyMovies using #Sharknado. Syfy will select the best submission as the subtitle for Sharknado 2.

Just wait a few years when Sharknado 3 gets released in theaters in 3-D just like High School Musical did.
