Red Band Oldboy Trailer Comes Out of Hiding

Post Thumb:

Red Band Oldboy Trailer Comes Out of HidingA lot of people have been skeptical to say the least about Spike Lee’s remake of Park Chan-wook’s Korean classic Oldboy, and now finally they can check out some footage from the film. Behold the official Oldboy red band trailer!

Starring Josh Brolin, Elizabeth Olsen, and Sharlto Copley, Oldboy was directed by Spike Lee from a script by Mark Protosevich (I Am Legend, The Cell, Thor). The film was produced by Roy Lee, Doug Davison, and Nathan Kahane.

Look for in theatres on October 25, 2013.

Oldboy is a provocative, visceral thriller that follows the story of an advertising executive (Josh Brolin) who is abruptly kidnapped and held hostage for 20 years in solitary confinement. When he is inexplicably released, he embarks on an obsessive mission to discover who orchestrated his bizarre and torturous punishment only to find he is still trapped in a web of conspiracy and torment.

Ask not why they keep remaking good movies. Ask why we keep paying to see them.

Hear Hear. It’s that common adage: They wouldn’t make them if people didn’t buy them.

    (might constitute spoilers, be warned)

The problem I have is that, in knowing the ending, you essentially lose everything from watching the film. Unless they change it of course, but the original basically all hinged on the reveal (which was my only problem with it, given the utterly stupid motivation of the bad guy) which wasn’t even *that* shocking to me, but maybe thats because I watched Angel Heart when I was 12 or something.

Anyway, might rent it eventually but that’s about the height of my interest.

Look like it’s trying to outdo the original. I’ll hold my judgement until I see it.

If it weren’t for Brolin’s involvement, I’d have no interest in paying to see another Spike Lee film. Having said that, that was a damn good trailer!
