Lakeshore Entertainment and Hopscotch Features have brought on David Hayter (X-Men, Watchmen) to pen the screenplay for their upcoming flick The Sword, a bloody tale of vengeance based on the graphic novel by Jonathan and Joshua Luna (The Luna Brothers).
Tom Rosenberg and Gary Lucchesi of Lakeshore will produce the feature film version of The Sword, which is comprised of four volumes (Fire, Water, Earth, and Air) published by Image Comics. Production on the first installment of The Sword is slated to begin early 2014.
The story follows Dara Brighton, a young paraplegic whose family is brutally murdered by a mysterious trio. Dara escapes and discovers a magical sword that allows her to walk again and grants her physical powers. With her new weapon, she sets off to enact revenge on the assassins.
