The Lords of Salem Ready to Rule Home VideoRob Zombie’s latest piece of satanic panic trippyness, The Lords of Salem, is officially laying its curse on Blu-ray and DVD here in the United States, and we’ve got the first details for you right here!

From the Press Release
Anchor Bay Films has announced that Rob Zombie’s frightening new film, THE LORDS OF SALEM, will arrive on Blu-ray Combo Pack with an UltraViolet Digital Copy and DVD on Tuesday, September 3, 2013.

From the singular mind of horror maestro Rob Zombie comes a chilling plunge into a nightmare world where evil runs in the blood. THE LORDS OF SALEM tells the tale of Heidi (Sheri Moon Zombie), a radio station DJ living in Salem, Massachusetts, who receives a strange wooden box containing a record, a “gift from the Lords.” Heidi listens, and the bizarre sounds within the grooves immediately trigger flashbacks of the town’s violent past. Is Heidi going mad, or are the “Lords of Salem” returning for revenge on modern-day Salem?

The film stars Sheri Moon Zombie (Halloween, The Devil’s Rejects), Bruce Davison (X-Men, X2), Jeff Daniel Phillips (Halloween II, Faster), Ken Foree (The Devil’s Rejects), Patricia Quinn (The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Monty Python’s The Meaning of Life), Dee Wallace (E.T. – The Extra-Terrestrial The Howling, Cujo), Maria Conchita Alonso (The Running Man, Predator 2), Judy Geeson (To Sir, with Love), and Meg Foster (They Live, Masters of the Universe).

The 2-disc Blu-ray Combo Pack with an UltraViolet Digital Copy will include an audio commentary with writer/producer/director Rob Zombie and limited edition collectible packaging. The DVD will also include the audio commentary and limited edition collectible packaging. THE LORDS OF SALEM will be available on Blu-ray Combo Pack with an UltraViolet Digital Copy and DVD for the suggested retail price of $30.99 and $26.98, respectively.

I can’t say enough how terrible this film is. I fell asleep watching it three times. It took forever to get through it and I kept waiting for a payoff, something to draw me into the story, something to make it worth while. The premise of witches and a curse could have been so much, but he pissed it away in order to show nude aging horror actresses and an excuse to put his wife into another movie.

My favourite bit was the bit where everyone had long hair and beards.

  • theGoldenSimatar

I really liked it. It was very different and was a nice slow burn film.

  • Terminal

I wonder if Zombie will push for a special edition for all four of the fans of his movies.

    • Rottenjesus

That’s three more fans than you have reading your site every day, not including you.

      Addendum: HELL YEAH!

  • Sirand

Considering the amount of footage that was cut from the film, that’s a pretty piss poor home video release.

  • Matt Serafini

    This movie was awesome.

    • The Woman In Black

If by “awesome” you mean tedious to sit through and forgotten almost instantaneously with the credits rolling, then yeah, it was awesome! LOL
