The first casting news has arrived for Lionsgate’s and Lakeshore Entertainment’s new chiller from director Mark Neveldine entitled The Vatican Tapes, and we have all the details waiting for you with a shotglass filled with holy water.
According to Deadline, Michael Pena will play Father Lozano in the demonic thriller. The Lakeshore-produced pic will start filming next month with Djimon Hounsou, Dougray Scott, Kathleen Robertson, Peter Andersson, John Patrick Amedori, Alex Sparrow, and Olivia Dudley also in the cast. Dudley plays a twentysomething who seems to cause death and destruction to those around her. Pena’s character is the local priest who first tries to help.
THE VATICAN TAPES follows the haunting tale of 27-year-old Angela Holmes, who accidentally cuts her finger and ends up in the emergency room. Infection leads to erratic behavior, and she begins to have a devastating effect on anyone close, causing serious injury and death. Priests examine Holmes and believe she is possessed, but when the Vatican is called upon to exorcise the demon, the possession proves to be an ancient satanic force more powerful than they imagined.
