All You Need Is Kill Gets a Rewrite From the Army of the Dead

Warner Brothers is going to the well again to make sure that the script for their upcoming adaptation of the Japanese novel by Hiroshi Sakurazaka, All You Need is Kill, is as top notch as can be. So who better to bring on board than a writer who knows all about the dead?

According to Variety, Warner Bros. has tapped Joby Harold (Army of the Dead) to rewrite time-travel actioner All You Need Is Kill, with Doug Liman attached to direct and 3 Arts Entertainment producing.

Check out the plot crunch below for the uninitiated.

Novel Synopsis
"There’s one thing worse than dying. It’s coming back to do it again and again ...

When the alien Gitai invade, Keiji Kiriya is just one of many raw recruits shoved into a suit of battle armor and sent out to kill. Keiji dies on the battlefield, only to find himself reborn each morning to fight and die again and again. On the 158th iteration though, he sees something different, something out of place: the female soldier known as the Bitch of War.

Is the Bitch the key to Keiji’s escape or to his final death?"

I read the script shortly after it was picked up for a gazillion bucks and it was a brisk, fun read. Could make for a pretty cool film. Let's hope this rewrite doesn't unnecessarily simplify the plot and dumb it down.
