Halloween 3DEven though it remains a long way off (and most likely subject to change), the Weinsteins have picked release dates for two franchises in their horror catalogue, Halloween 3D and Scary Movie 5. So when can you expect the flicks? Read on for the skinny!

First off (for the handful of fans out there who care) Scary Movie 5 has been saddled up with a release date of April 20th, 2012, pitting it right up against Relativity Media’s The House at the End of the Street. Interesting placement given the hoopla around The Crow remake, dontcha think?

And finally a date for something we’ve all been waiting a long while for … Halloween 3D. Look for that to be in theatres on October 26th, 2012! A Halloween movie during the Halloween season instead of the dead of summer? They’re already on the right track.

The 2012 release date should also work perfectly for director Patrick Lussier and writer Todd Farmer, who are now knee-deep in their own telling of Hellraiser as the duo should have plenty of time to make both films happen.
