New Vlad Tale to Be Sans Vampires But Still Bloody
We've been talking about Summit Entertainment's Vlad for over a year now, and finally director Anthony Mandler has given a bite-sized update for eager fans waiting to see Dracula once again on the big screen. The only catch? We're not getting Dracula.
Instead Mandler told MTV that his film will not focus on the vampire legend of Dracula but will cover the life of Vlad III, Prince of Wallachia (now part of Romania), as he defends his dominion from the Ottoman Empire. If you recall, this particular ruler had a reputation for horribly sadistic torture and execution methods, earning him the nickname Vlad the Impaler.
"I'm deep into 'Vlad,' the origin story of Dracula," he tells the network. "I think kind of shortly things are going to start unfolding."
Mandler also hinted that casting news would be coming soon. Keep it here for more as it comes.

Snowmageddon Will Shake Up Syfy for the HolidaysI don't know why I'm bothering to write about a supernatural Syfy disaster flick called Snowmageddon about a magical snow globe that when shaken unleashes a wintery apocalypse when the actual apocalypse is a little more than a day away. Do you realize when my life passes before my eyes how many of these Syfy movies I'm going to end up watching again in mega fast forward?

I like the idea of doing a movie about Vlad without vampires. Sounds good to me.
