Yeah, she can make just about anyone get a case of the old spine tingles. Seriously, though, word has come that Image Entertainment has picked up US rights to Cyclone Productions’ thriller Shiver, a movie that’s been floating about for a couple of years now.
Directed by UK-based, multi-film festival award winner Julian Richards, the film is based on the novel by New York Times bestselling author Brian Harper (aka Michael Prescott), who has over one million copies of his novels in circulation. Shiver stars Danielle Harris (Halloween), John Jarratt (Wolf Creek), and Casper Van Dien (Starship Troopers) and features TV actors Rae Dawn Chong (“That’s So Raven”) and Valerie Harper (“Drop Dead Diva”) as well as European action star Brad Harris.
Written and produced by Robert Weinbach, executive produced by Brad Harris, and co-produced by AJ Gordon, the film was shot on location in Portland, Oregon, pursuant to the Oregon Film Incentive Program.
Bill Bromiley, Image Entertainment’s Chief Acquisitions Officer said of the acquisition, “The horror/genre community has created a lot of positive word of mouth online about this highly anticipated film. Their support will push this title to its success, and we’re thrilled to add this film to our slate.”
For more keep an eye on the official Shiver website.
Shiver follows the ordeal of Wendy Alden, a young secretary lacking in self-esteem who becomes the target of a savage killer but somehow finds resources of courage to fight back and escape. Obsessed with killing Wendy, Franklin Rood penetrates a police cordon guarding her. Again she escapes, earning Rood’s twisted sense of love. He later kidnaps and brings her to his hideout, where he subjects her to an horrific ritual of psychological intimidation. During the final climax Wendy confronts the monster of her living nightmare, transforming into a lioness of great courage and determination.
