There are still some of us out there who haven’t quite recovered from the painful boners brought about by Santanico Pandemonium’s snake dancing scene from the original 1996 flick From Dusk Till Dawn, though the insipid sequels definitely helped. However, we may just be getting cursed again.
According to Broadcasting and Cable, Univision has formed a strategic partnership with El Rey Network, which is chaired by filmmaker Robert Rodriguez (From Dusk Till Dawn, Spy Kids), and Factory Media, Univision president Cesar Conde announced during the company’s Upfront presentation in New York City on Tuesday.
Noting Univision’s partnerships with ABC and Participant Media, Conde introduced the “new partnership” with El Rey and introduced Rodriguez, who touted a series for the programming service based on his film From Dusk Till Dawn, which he will write, produce, and direct.
El Rey is set to launch at the end of the year via Comcast. Univision will be responsible for the back office operations, sales, and distribution of the network.
