In a move that will make a lot of “Grimm” fans happy, for the 2013-14 season NBC will be returning the show to Friday nights and pairing it with new series “Dracula.” Unfortunately, the fate of “Hannibal” is still up in the air.
Below you’ll find more details along with key art, a few photos, and the official synopsis and trailer for “Dracula.”
Robert Greenblatt, Chairman, NBC Entertainment, said, “On Fridays, anchored by ‘Grimm’ at 9 p.m., we will have a more fun genre night with the limited-series ‘Dracula,’ starring Jonathan Rhys Meyers at 10 p.m. In the spring, ‘Crossbones’ — with John Malkovich as the infamous pirate Blackbeard — replaces ‘Dracula.’”
“Revolution” is moving to Wednesday nights, and after football and the Olympics are over, NBC will be launching “Believe” from J.J. Abrams (Sunday at 9 p.m.), which tells the story of an unlikely relationship that develops between a young girl (Johnny Sequoyah) with a gift and a man (Jake McLaughlin) sprung from prison who has been tasked with protecting her from the evildoers who covet her power. Kyle MacLachlan, Delroy Lindo, Sienna Guillory, Arian Moayed, and Jamie Chung also star.
A pick-up decision on “Hannibal” is expected in the next few weeks.
Now here’s everything available on “Dracula” thus far:
Golden Globe winner Jonathan Rhys Meyers (“The Tudors”) stars in this provocative new one-hour drama as one of the world’s most iconic characters. It’s the late 19th century, and the mysterious Dracula has arrived in London, posing as an American entrepreneur who wants to bring modern science to Victorian society. He’s especially interested in the new technology of electricity, which promises to brighten the night – useful for someone who avoids the sun. But he has another reason for his travels: He hopes to take revenge on those who cursed him with immortality centuries earlier. Everything seems to be going according to plan… until he becomes infatuated with a woman who appears to be a reincarnation of his dead wife.
From the producers of the critically acclaimed, Emmy Award-winning hit “Downton Abbey” comes “Dracula,” a twisted, sophisticated, and sexy take on Bram Stoker’s classic novel, proving that some stories never die.
Along with Meyers as Dracula/Alexander Grayson/Vlad Tepes, the other cast members include Oliver Jackson-Cohen as Jonathan Harker, Jessica De Gouw as Mina Murray/Ilona, Thomas Kretschmann as Abraham Van Helsing, Katie McGrath as Lucy Westenra, Nonso Anozie as R.M. Renfield, Victoria Smurfit as Lady Jayne Wetherby, Ben Miles as Mr. Browning, and Robert Bathurst as Lord Thomas Davenport.
