First Word on UK Suspense Thriller White SettlersThe brains behind GrimmFest – Manchester, England’s annual cult and horror film fest – have lined up their second feature film, White Settlers, a suspense thriller starring Pollyanna McIntosh (The Woman) that began shooting this past weekend. Read on for details.

The film is directed by Simeon Halligan and written by Ian Fenton, and production company Not a Number plans an autumn 2013 release with the premiere taking place at this year’s GrimmFest. White Settlers pitches the modern urbanites’ dream – beginning a simple life in the country – against the possibility of a very different and horrific reality. The unit list includes Paul Elkins first AD’ing, Keith Mc Namara and James Swift in the camera dept., and Paul Boyce designing makeup, who between them have had key roles in the Harry Potter films, Casino Royale, and various Ridley Scott pictures including Gladiator.

Look for more soon as the following was just posted on the film’s Facebook and Twitter pages: “Male lead confirmed tonight! And he’s a bit of a knockout! #GreatActor.” For additional info in the meantime, “like” White Settlers on Facebook, and follow White Settlers on Twitter.

Synopsis:
It’s Ed and Sarah’s first night at their new home, an isolated farmhouse on the Scottish border. This should be a new beginning away from their stressful London lives. And at first it is as they enjoy supper al fresco at sunset and a riverside skinny dip. But as darkness falls, things become eerie. Sarah suspects they’re not alone; Ed goes to investigate, and the evening swiftly becomes a nightmare. It dawns on them that they do not belong there. And they certainly aren’t welcome either…

White Settlers comes on like a supernatural terror ride with the classic ‘bumps in the night’ scenario of floorboard creaks and shadows. But the moment Ed tells a genuinely frightened Sarah to get a grip, the film bluntly changes direction. And here is where the game changes. Think Straw Dogs meets Sinister.

This really could happen to you.
