Today horror fans everywhere should prepare to batten down the hatches for one helluva disaster flick hitting the big screen- Aftershock directed by Nicolás López and starring Eli Roth, Andrea Osvárt, Ariel Levy, Lorenza Izzo and Nicolás Martínez.
With a title like Aftershock you may think you know just what you’re in for with this story, but think again- as it turns out, humanity is far more dangerous than Mother Nature (at least in this case), and just when you think it cannot possibly get any worse for the film’s leads, López and his co-writers Roth and Guillermo Amoedo find new ways to screw with them.
Dread Central caught up with López, Roth and a few others during a recent press day to hear more about how a real earthquake in Chile inspired their story, the challenges of filming such an ambitious effects and action heavy project in South America and much more.
And while Roth remained tight-lipped about his upcoming cannibal project The Green Inferno, we did manage to get Izzo’s thoughts on reteaming with Roth on the project, saying ”What I can tell is that everything about this movie is a secret (laughs), but it is very much a really intense horror movie and not like anything out there now. It’s not going to be the movie anyone is expecting it to be, and I think it’s going to be complete insanity on the big screen when it comes out. Eli took us to places no one has ever been to before – literally – to make this movie, and I think it’s the kind of movie that’s going to rip your guts out when you see it.”
