Luke Evans Preparing to Take Flight as The CrowSorry, Loki. Tom Hiddleston’s name had most recently been bandied about to star in the reboot of The Crow. Instead the distributors decided to go with a Greek god, “Zeus” from Immortals, AKA Luke Evans, to bring the undead revenger back to the big screen.

Deadline reports that the super busy Luke Evans has been tapped by Relativity Media to star in Javier Gutierrez’s reboot of the comic book superhero The Crow. Evans is so busy of late, he was the first choice for the role, but the producers didn’t think he’d be available due to the multitude of other projects he’s heavy into. The Welsh actor will soon be seen as the lead villain in Fast and Furious 6, and later this year he’ll be co-starring in the next installment of The Hobbit. He also just signed on to star as the world’s most famous bloodsucker in Dracula: Year Zero.

Somewhere in between shooting and promoting all those films, he’s going to find time to don white makeup and black leather-wear to star as the latest incarnation of James O’Barr’s supernatural vigilante. A role first brought to the big screen in 1994 by the late Brandon Lee, it has since been brought to life by the likes of Vincent Perez, Eric Mabius, Marc Dacascos, and, most recently in 2005, Edward Furlong.

Shooting of The Crow is set to begin early next year.

For those that don’t want to wait so long to see Luke Evans wreaking violent retribution upon those that wronged him, next week he’ll begin seeking bloody vengeance in Ryuhei Kitamura’s No One Lives.
