MTV Bringing Scream to the Small ScreenWith the success of their My Psycho Sweet 16 franchise and the popularity of genre television, is it any wonder that a TV show based on the Wes Craven slasher franchise Scream has been greenlit by MTV for a pilot?

THR reports that MTV is moving forward with an official pilot order for “Scream” the TV series.

Produced with Dimension Films, MTV is currently in search of writers for the one-hour project while Scream director Wes Craven is in discussions to direct the pilot. Should “Scream” receive a series order, it would be slated for a summer 2014 launch and would join current scripted offerings “Teen Wolf” (also adapted from a film franchise) and “Awkward.”

So what do you guys think? Something to scream about or no?

You're such an inspiration for the ways that I will never, ever choose to be.

i just want one death scene to be something other then a stab or slash with the same fucking knife -_- . . . THERES OTHER MURDER WEAPONS GHOSTFACE!

How is this even going to be possible? I mean is Ghostface only going to kill 1 or 2 people a season and the rest of the time is going to drag out trying to figure out who it is? And you cannot reveal the identity at the end of the season or you can’t really have another one. This just blows my mind as to how bad it is going to be and why they think it could be put in serial form!

I look forward to many episodes of broadly written characters holding our hands through obvious horror cliches!

Personally I think it would be interesting if each season was set in a different location with a different set of characters except maybe one or two survivors from the previous season popping up at some point.
