We’ve been talking about a possible Doctor Strange movie for a long time now. Years even. However, it’s looking like we’re getting a bit closer, and Marvel may have even found a star to play the devilish superhero.
According to C.H.U.D., a trusted industry source (take that for what it’s worth) told them that Marvel is eyeballing someone that they already have a relationship with for the lead in a confirmed Phase Three project: Doctor Strange. His name? Actor/screenwriter Justin Theroux (pictured). There’s no word on whether or not he is the only one being looked at for the part of Stephen Strange, but the site reports that there is strong interest over at Marvel in seeing Theroux become the Sorcerer Supreme. In fact, it’s quite possible that he is already at work on the script.
We’ll file this one under rumor for now and keep our ears open for more.
Created in 1963, Doctor Strange is the story of an arrogant surgeon who is injured in a car accident and goes on to become the Sorcerer Supreme of the Marvel universe. Using his magical powers, Strange protects the Earth from attacks from other realms.
