Brittany Robertson Becomes Part of Kevin Williamson's Secret Circle
Casting has officially begun on Kevin Williamson's next project for The CW, "Secret Circle", and we've got the first info on just who's going to be a part of TV's newly formed coven as well as who will be directing the pilot.
According to Bloody Disgusting Scream 4 star Brittany Robertson (pictured below) has landed the lead role of "Cassie" in The CW's pilot episode. Meanwhile, Deadline got word that Liz Friedlander will make her pilot directing debut with "Secret Circle". Friedlander, who started off as a music video and commercial director, has helmed multiple episodes of several CW series, including "The Vampire Diaries", "One Tree Hill", and "90210".
"Secret Circle" centers on a California teen who moves to her mom's hometown of New Salem and discovers that she is a witch. She’s also the key that will unlock a centuries-old battle of good versus evil. The project hails from Alloy Entertainment and WBTV, the companies behind "Diaries". It was first set at The CW in October with "Angel" alums Elizabeth Craft and Sarah Fain as executive producers and Andrew Miller as writer/exec producer.
Williamson is now working on the script and serving as an executive producer on the project, which, with its auspices, has emerged as a strong contender for a pilot pickup. While Williamson's fellow "Diaries" executive producer Julie Plec is not currently attached to "Secret Circle", we suspect she could come on board in the future.
