PaleyFest 2013 closed with “American Horror Story,” and along with the surprise appearance of new cast member Kathy Bates, the highlight of the night was the reveal of what the show’s third chapter would be subtitled. Read on, and then check back in a few hours for videos from the panel.
Series co-creator Ryan Murphy announced that in Season 3 “American Horror Story” will be subtitled “Coven.” “It’s a really cool story that we’ve been talking for a couple years, and this seemed to be the year to do it,” he said, noting the series will shoot in multiple locations, one of which is New Orleans — the first time the series has exited its soundstage filming location.
“I’ve loved it from the very beginning,” Bates (who will be portraying Lange’s character’s former best friend turned enemy) said. “I called up Jessica and told her to talk to Ryan and tell him I’d do anything on the show.” She refrained from spilling any additional details about her character, however.
For his part, Murphy said the series will deliver on one thing: “I wanted to see a lot of scenes with Jessica Lange and Kathy Bates going at it, and that’s what you’re going to see,” he said to wild enthusiasm from the sold-out crowd at the Saban Theatre.
Along with Murphy and Bates, the panel included:
Brad Falchuk, Co-creator & Executive Producer
Dante Di Loreto, Executive Producer
Tim Minear, Executive Producer
Jessica Lange, “Sister Jude Martin”
Sarah Paulson, “Lana Winters”
Frances Conroy, “Dark Angel”
Evan Peters, “Kit Walker”
Lily Rabe, “Sister Mary Eunice”
Naomi Grossman, “Pepper”
