Dimension Loves Mandy Lane

Word has come down via Variety that The Weinstein Co. has nabbed the horror film All the Boys Love Mandy Lane from the Midnight Madness section of the Toronto International Film Festival.
I always find it odd when there’s big buzz for a new movie seemingly out of nowhere, and thankfully it’s almost always worthwhile buzz. All the Boys… is about the titular girl, the object of nearly every school boy’s desires, who finds all manner of troubles when she accepts an invitation for a getaway at a Texas ranch house and an overzealous, wannabe suitor starts offing the competition.
Though it sounds like every other slasher film made during the 80s and 90s, apparently a sharp script and smart characters have elevated it above standard fare. No release plans have been announced yet, but since it’ll be out under the Dimension banner, I’m sure we’ll have a few solid years to wonder just how good the film is before we actually get to see it.
