Albany, NY Announces Three Nights of Horror with FantaCon 2013 This September

It’s a few pages away on the calendar, but we just got word there’s a new festival in town, and that town is Albany, NY. Scheduled for September, FantaCon, which was originally held in 1979 in Albany, is returning to the Empire State in 2013 for an all new weekend of excitement.

The guest list is already impressive, and they’ve got some great classic films to show in Albany’s beautiful Palace Theater. Check out all the info below, and if you dig it, you can get your tickets here.

FantaCon 2013 is a celebration of horror and fantasy in film, TV, comic books, toys, music and books for all ages! The convention will be held September 14 and 15 at the Marriott at 189 Wolf Road in Albany. At FantaCon you will find thousands of fans meeting with established and aspiring film stars, television actors, comic book artists, illustrators, authors, special effects artists, producers, directors, writers and filmmakers. In addition there will be over 100 vendors selling collectables of all kinds.

For 2013, with the unprecedented popularity of zombies, FantaCon will have a first for the Albany area. Members of the cast of the original 1968 zombie film that started it all, Night of the Living Dead, will gather for the film’s 45th anniversary.

Come join the convention that draws fans from all over the country! After all, where else could you find the first actor that played horror icon Jason Voorhees rubbing shoulders with the co-creator of The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles?

FantaCon presents the 45th anniversary cast reunion of Night of the Living Dead at the Palace Theatre. It is appropriate that the 45th anniversary celebration takes place at the Palace, which was one of just a few theatres on the East Coast to premiere the film in 1968! In fact the weekend receipts for the Palace showing were utilized in advertising the film nationally for the second week bookings. This very special evening will start with an on-stage Q & A panel discussion with stars John Russo, Russ Streiner, Judy O’Dea, Kyra Schon, George Kosana and Judith Ridley, followed by the big screen showing of the original 1968 film. Come see the landmark zombie film that started the current zombie mania.

Friday, September 13 at 7:30 PM
FantaCon presents the Friday the 13th celebration at the Palace Theatre. The evening will begin with the big screen showing of the original 1980 Friday the 13th film introduced by Ari Lehman who played the original Jason Voorhees. The screening will be followed by a fun-filled live concert with the band First Jason starring Ari Lehman!

FantaCon Presents Zombie Fest at the Palace Theatre! In case you haven’t noticed, zombies have become all the rage! Here are three all-time fan favorite zombie films: Zombie (1980), Night of the Living Dead (1990 version), Return of the Living Dead (1985).

Tickets are just $13 per show. Special ticket with admission to all 3 shows is just $30. VIP tickets to the Friday the 13th show are $50 and will allow a very limited number of fans to meet Ari Lehman for autographs and for some special items made just for VIP ticket holders!
