Dreamworks is getting ready to go to the young adult reading well yet again, and this time they’ve come up with a writer to adapt the fantasy novel Shadow and Bone from Leigh Bardugo. Read on for the latest.
THR is reporting that the studio is looking to tap Christopher Kyle (K9: The Widowmaker, Alexander) as the man to bring the first part of this intended trilogy to the big screen.
The first installment in this series takes place in a land under attack by a swath of darkness filled with creatures that feast on human flesh. A young woman discovers she has a dormant power that could be a key to turning the tide and is taken to be trained by her country’s magical elite.
The book debuted on the New York Times’ bestseller list, went back to a third printing and had the rare distinction of being an Amazon “book of the month” pick for both the children’s and adult categories. More as it comes.
