Will they finnaly make it scary, have good actors and have a story that does not involve nothing, loud noise, door opens and some more nothing?
Weakest horror franchise ever...
The mind is like a parachute...it only works when it is open.

Final Destination, Saw, Resident Evil: Three of the weakest most unnecessary franchises in history.
Paranormal Activity? Not even close.

I'll give this the benefit of the doubt, considering the sequel was so well done.

Really? Come on now, enough is enough. You can only stretch an idea so much before it finally breaks.

The same can be said for any franchise but I had the same reaction when Part 2 was announced and that one turned out surprisingly well. I'm curious to see where it goes from here.

True, but not all franchises have as thin of a plot as PA 1&2. Who'll be terrorized next? The grandparents? And they've already established the demon's intent. They should have saved that revelation for the third film.

The toilet?

A haunted toilet that sucks those who dare sit into the bowels of a SHITTY HELL!
Buts lets not assume Paramount is just doing this for the money. Here is the likely conversation between Paramount execs that led to this mind bending concept.
Exec 1: Y'know, I've watched both Paranormal Activity 1 and 2 a hundred times or so and I just don't think the story is done. I mean there's so much more to say. The geopolitical ramifications alone are overwhelming.
Exec 2: Exactly! With this series we can explore the boundaries of horror as a genre... then we can stretch, nay, break those bonds to create a work of art that will live throughout the ages!
Exec 1: Finally a chance to make a difference... fuck the bottom line. I'm willing to risk another 3 million studio dollars... and even if we only make 70 or 80 million more on that investment it's the art that matters!
Exec 2: Fuck yeah, man! It's all about being original, pushing boundaries and delivering pure quality! Hallelujah!
Yay studio execs, you guys rule! Maybe you could get some more remakes going too!

So, producing a Paranormal Activity film is like a bragging about your big brave ass bets but not telling anyone they're on a nickel slot machine?
Not bitching. I liked the first (although I didn't find it scary at all) and hope to see the second soon. But the finacial incentive in keeping the series going is pretty clear. Nothing wrong with that.
