It’s been well over a year since there’s been anything to report regarding Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor’s pitched to HBO miniseries “Year Zero”, which is based upon his concept album. It doesn’t sound like we’ll be talking about it much anytime soon either.
During a Reddit conversation to hype the sale of the How to Destroy Angels EP, Reznor dropped the following on curious fans…
“This is currently in a holding state,” says Reznor. “We didn’t find the right match with a writer, and really have been avoiding doing what we should have done from the beginning: write it ourselves. We = Rob [Sheridan, the band’s art director] and myself. This project means a lot to me and will see the light of day in one form or another.”
Based on the 2007 album of the same name by Reznor’s Nine Inch Nails, the concept recording criticizes the U.S. government — specifically the Bush years — and presents a dystopian vision of the year 2022. Reznor has already adapted the album into an alternate reality game.
Look for more on this one soon.
