No tricks here… just treats as right in time for Halloween, Dark Sky Films reveals the first photos from Adam Green’s Hatchet III, directed by BJ McDonnell.

Hatchet III will continue the saga of Victor Crowley, the “Bayou Butcher,” who first made his gruesome mark in 2007’s groundbreaking Hatchet. Adam Green’s Hatchet II sequel became the first unrated independent horror film to be exhibited by a major chain (AMC Theatres) in more than 25 years when it opened.

The movie is written and executive produced by series creator Adam Green, who also directed the first two films in the series. Veteran camera operator BJ McDonnell (Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, Project X, Easy A, Hatchet 2) makes his directing debut on Hatchet III.

Hatchet II stars Danielle Harris and Kane Hodder return in Hatchet III and are joined by Derek Mears (Friday the 13th 2009), Caroline Williams (Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2), Sean Whalen (The People Under the Stairs), and others.

Great pics…Im loving the cast in this one. Cant wait to see how crazy Marybeth is in this one. At the end of part 2 She went totally apeshit as She was hacking up Crowley.

I won’t stop complaining, but my biggest worry is if Danielle is gonna be killed off… I’m sick and tired of never seeing her survive a horror franchise! :(
Plus the whole fun part of the hatchet films is the ongoing battle for revenge between Marybeth and Victor! Still, I hope this is better than the first Hatchet… it really didn’t tick with me, but the sequel was beyond fun!

I soooo would love to like these movies. Hatchet has all the elements to be a good time yet in back to back films I’ve yet to be impressed. The over-the-top silliness puts me off. I’m all on board for dark humor but these sail past dark humor and fall off into complete absurdity and pure cheesemo land.

Adam Green has the world by the balls. The ability to make horror films, get genre actors willing to accept roles, financial backing, great special effects people, yet I feel like he’s wasting away the golden opportunity by making intentionally bad campy unrealistic horror films. The Hatchet movies are like watching Looney Toons for adults. It wouldn’t shock me at all if Victor Crowley killed someone by dropping an ACME safe on their head in part III and then flying the body parts up to the moon on a rocket.
