To those stuck-up people who think the horror industry is run by inhumane deviants, here’s concrete proof that you’ll find more kindness and goodwill here than most places.
This past Sunday, Dread Central’s own Sean Decker and The Dread Central Horror Starlets team descended onto Universal Citywalk for their fourth year at the Busted Foundation’s Bowling for Boobies charity event to raise money for women under financial pressure during their costly breast cancer treatments.
Organized by Dreadcentral.com writer Sean Decker, The Horror Starlets 2012 team is comprised of the returning Ashlynn Yennie (of The Human Centipede films), Cerina Vincent (Cabin Fever), Allison Kyler (Chromeskull: Laid to Rest 2), Brooke Lewis (Slime City Massacre), Sarah Butler (I Spit On Your Grave) and Carlee Baker (The Woman). Joining them this year are Natalie Victoria (DeadHeads), Kristina Klebe (Rob Zombie’s Halloween) and Barbara Nedeljakova (of Eli Roth’s Hostel films).
The sold-out event was a fun night of charity bowling, raffles, and specialty cocktails (who doesn’t love a good “boobitini?”). Not only was this year’s charity a whopping success but DC’s Horror Startlets took home two – count ‘em – two awards that evening for ‘Most Money Raised’ ($24,076) and ‘Best Team Look’ (which these lovely ladies would win anywhere). Way to go, team!
But this isn’t just a once-a-year thing. There are plenty of more women out there who struggle to make end’s meet and great charities like the Busted Foundation are in need of year round support.
