Two Actors Ready to Endure These Final HoursWith the Mayan calendar reaching its end, is it any wonder why so many people are looking to make movies which revolve around the apocalypse? Of course not! And here’s the first word of another flick heading our way.

According to Deadline, Wolf Creek’s Nathan Phillips and Snowtown’s Daniel Henshall will star in first time feature writer-director Zak Hilditch’s These Final Hours. Hilditch’s short, Transmission, screened in Tribeca in 2011.

His collaborator on that project, Liz Kearney, is producing These Final Hours. Robert Connolly, who’s set to direct The Riders with Sam Worthington and The Shipkiller with producer Gale Anne Hurd, is exec producing.

Phillips plays a self-obsessed young guy who makes his way to the party-to-end-all-parties on the last day on Earth but ends up saving the life of a young girl who’s searching for her father. The cast also includes Australian actresses Jessica De Gouw (Kath & Kimderella) and Sarah Snook (Lionsgate’s Jessabelle).

Connolly and John Maynard’s Footprint Films will release These Final Hours in Australia. International sales are handled by Celluloid Nightmares. Shooting starts in Perth, on Oct. 15. Kearney raised the finance from Screen Australia, Screen West’s West Coast Visions initiative, the Melbourne International Film Festival Premiere Fund and the 40% producer offset.
