DVD Releases: 6/22/2010: Feel the Thirst from a Fireball During Death Race 2000
From the plethora of home video releases we got last week, June 22nd sees a much smaller batch -- only seven titles in all -- and undoubtedly the pick of the week is Shout! Factory's stellar re-packaging of Death Race 2000.
For more on DR2000, be sure to hit up Uncle Creepy's Death Race 2000 review, which goes into great detail on how much there is to love about it. As for the rest of the offerings, unfortunately I can't be so positive. We get Ian Somerhalder in Fireball (judging by Foy's review of over a year ago, I'd say skip it and wait for "The Vampire Diaries" to hit DVD later this summer); a vamp rehash consisting of Nosferatu, Vampyr, and Le Vampire; another Thirst that has nothing to do with the stellar Korean film of the same name; and the newly retitled Wolf Moon werewolf flick that'll probably receive a boost from co-star Max Ryan's recent notoriety as Samantha's new squeeze in SATC2.
Lastly are a four-pack of "cult thrillers" from Warner Home Video that I couldn't for the life of me find out the titles of and a Blu-ray release of Tromeo and Juliet. Like I said, slim pickins all in all but a few worthy entries depending on your tastes.
Next week's looking MUCH better so be sure to check back then, and keep your credit card handy!

The death of a loved one is never easy to deal with. In fact some would go to any lengths necessary to have their dearly departed back with them. The only trouble is raising the dead never leads to anything good, and in the new flick Phasma Ex Machina the results can be deadly.
