After much talking and casting news Warner Brothers has finally set a premiere date for their upcoming adaptation of the Japanese novel by Hiroshi Sakurazaka, All You Need Is Kill. Look for the flick in theatres on March 14, 2014.
Doug Limon directs the flick which stars Tom Cruise, Emily Blunt, Bill Paxton, Jonas Armstrong, Tony Way, Kick Gurry, Franz Drameh, Dragomir Mrsic and Charlotte Riley. The screenplay is written by Dante Harper, Christopher McQuarrie and Joby Harold.
Warner teamed with Legendary Pictures and Village Roadshow Pictures on the project. Warner Bros. noted that its the first feature to be shot at the recently christened Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden in the U.K., and begins principal photography Monday.
All You Need Is Kill, based on Hiroshi Sakurazaka’s novel, “centers on a soldier (Cruise) in a near-future war against aliens who relives his last day over and over after being killed. Through the training and battles he experiences in these time loops, he becomes a better soldier.”
There’s one thing worse than dying. It’s coming back to do it again and again…
When the alien Gitai invade, Keiji Kiriya is just one of many raw recruits shoved into a suit of battle armor and sent out to kill. Keiji dies on the battlefield, only to find himself reborn each morning to fight and die again and again. On the 158th iteration though, he sees something different, something out of place: the female soldier known as the Bitch of War.
Is the Bitch the key to Keiji’s escape or to his final death?
