Casting News and Some Early Artwork/Photos from Rites of Spring

After getting a few details yesterday on who'd be handling the creature effects for Padraig Reynolds' Rites of Spring, which begins lensing April 12th in and around Canton, Mississippi, now comes casting news, an updated synopsis, and some artwork and photos from the project.

A couple of familiar names to horror fans have been linked to Rites of Spring: AJ Bowen (The Signal, The House of the Devil, Hatchet 2), his Signal co-star Anessa Ramsey, Marco St. John from the long-awaited Dylan Dog adaptation Dead of Night, and Shanna Forrestall (The Last Exorcism).

The old synopsis about a father out for revenge who crosses paths with a serial killer targeting teens has been replaced with the following, according to the IMDB:

A ransom scheme turns into a nightmare for a group of kidnappers who become victims of a horrifying secret that must be paid every spring.

Production companies Ghostrider Entertainment and White Rock Lake Productions plan to have the flick in theatres March 22nd, 2011.
