We told you a few weeks ago about Dark Horse Comics’ plan to release several different tie-ins to Nimrod Antal’s upcoming film, the Robert Rodriguez produced Predators, and now we’ve got the first bit of artwork for you to dig on!

In a recent interview with AICN David Lapham, who was hired by Dark Horse along with Marc Andreyko and Paul Tobin to create the properties, dropped the following on eager fans:

“I’m actually doing a prequel and a sequel,” Lapham tells AICN, “so I get to kind of bookend the thing. What we get to do is expand on the experience. In the movie you get to see these characters during their specific adventure. In the comics we can really dive further into what makes them tick and why things play out like they do in the movie. And we can show what bad-asses they were before. Then, on the other end, with the sequel, I get to further expand the concept of the movie and its possibilities going forward.”

Sweet! The film stars Adrien Brody, Topher Grace, Danny Trejo, Walton Goggins, and Alice Braga as a group of humans who find themselves stranded on a planet home to Predators and must survive the horrors they encounter. Produced by Robert Rodriguez’s Troublemaker Studios, Predators go on the hunt July 9th, 2010.
