I will see anything and everything that Brian Cox is in. Love that dude.

And Craven is one of the smartest filmmakers in the horror genre. His movies are not always 100%, but at least there is always a sense of intelligence in them.

Yeah Buz, you had me on Cox, and lost me on that last sentence. Sheesh.

Intelligent Buz? Have you watched Scream or ANOES lately. I feel insulted by watching them. Jaws is intelligent.

Or maybe you're referring to Cursed. I didn't even bother watching that POS.

I would say NOES is definitely very intelligent. Scream is just clever.

Cursed is absolute shit, but we can't blame that one on Craven.

And sad to see no Brian Cox.

Nice to see someone else defend Craven. I'm in total agreement with you, Buz. I really don't understand where the hatred comes from. Elm Street is an incredibly smart horror film that still holds up today.

It would help if Scream was actually horror. Or just worth watching. Wes Craven has made some iconic movies but he's hardly made any real films. The Serpent and the Rainbow (1988) is one fine exception...Red Eye (2005) was really interesting for about the first 20 minutes and then it just crept downhill from there (by the end it was going downhill full steam). Apart from that...Nightmare on Elm Street? Scream? Please. They're only good if you have nostalgia value attached to them. Or...maybe if you're quick to wet your pants I guess. Scream is pure popcorn horror, and that's not a good thing. The only decent popcorn movies would be, say, an Ironman (though that goes a bit beyond a popcorn movie), or maybe an Independence Day. Popcorn horror = pure garbage, no exceptions. Real horror is supposed to actually scare you, not insult your intelligence with a bunch of trite cliches you can see coming from a mile away. Who needs Scream 4? Somebody end the misery.

Cox is too underrated if you ask me. He brings his best in every role.

Finally, we agree on something. Brian Cox is vastly underrated and, were he to be in Scream 4, would add some gravitas to the proceedings.
