Zombieland's Abigail Breslin Ready to Tackle Darker Roles
Well, this is refreshing. A young actress who actually claims to want to appear in horror movies. Abigail Breslin, welcome to the family!
In a recent interview published by Reuters, Breslin says she's "ready for much darker roles." Serious horror films, to be precise. Or, suggests Breslin, perhaps a meaty role such as Lady Jane Grey, who as a teenager ruled England for a brief period before being beheaded.
She continues, "I am obsessed with horror movies [and] would love to do a 'Scream'-type movie."
Assuming she returns to the undead subgenre for Zombieland 2, here's hoping the 13-year-old Breslin (seen below in a scene from the original with co-star Emma Stone) is able to convince the powers-that-be to infuse a bit more of that "darkness" she's ready for into the sequel.

A dynamic if occasionally confusing confectionary of Clint Eastwood, David Lynch, John Hughes and George Miller, The Wraith remains one of the definitive guilty pleasures of 80’s sci-fi horror and a perennial favorite for those nostalgia nights in the company of a few select friends, a six-pack of beers and a bag of chips. In spite of its dated synth/soft rock score, awkward dialogue, bewildering concepts and – for the most part – unsympathetic teenage ciphers, it does retain a sleek brio and self-confidence that continue to hold the attention.

Nice. Breslin is a very good actress and I'm very open to seeing her do more adult stuff. Her crossover should be very interesting.
