Liv Ullmann To Direct Ghost Brothers of Darkland County
Little ditty about Stephen King and John Mellencamp, two American kids growin' up in the heartland. If you haven't heard about this unlikely collaboration yet, rest assured you'll be hearing lots about Ghost Brothers of Darkland County soon enough because the project has found itself a director.
Variety reports that Liv Ullmann (pictured right) is "unofficially" on board to direct this musical collaboration by Mellencamp and King called Ghost Brothers of Darkland County, which centers upon the legend of a 1957 tragedy that haunts a small Mississippi town.
0riginally announced for the 2008-09 season at Alliance Theater in Atlanta, the show was postponed indefinitely. Later in January a recording of Ghost Brothers was announced for a forthcoming release to be produced by Oscar winner T Bone Burnett. The package is set to include three CDs, a book, and will feature Kris Kristofferson, Elvis Costello, Roseanne Cash, Neko Case, Sheryl Crow, Mellencamp, and more.
We still don't have a release date, but we'd expect news of one soon.

NEXT STORY
In our genre the ever attractive Sigourney Weaver has done it all. Fought aliens. Busted ghosts. Now she's taking on the role of a Queen Vampire in Amy Heckerling's horror comedy Vamps.

Many of the musicians proliferating this production only go to show just how antiquated Mr. King really is.
Kristofferson? Valid.
Elvis Costello? Valid.
Rosanne Cash? Borderline.
Neko Case? Borderline.
John Cougar Mellancamp? Barf.
Sheryl Crowe? Barf, diarrhea, eyeballs melt out of head.
With a huge plethora of fresh and vital country-esque talent out there right now (being referred to vomitously as Nu-Grass for the time being) like DEVIL MAKES THREE, HILLSTOMP, THE LEGENDARY SHACK SHAKERS, and on and on...The Ghost Brothers of Darkland County is going to come out of the shoot ready-made for the middle of the roaders. And NO blues legends?
Oooooooooo-kayyyyyyyyy.
This is gonna be good!
For me to poop on.
