One day shy of its release on VOD, we have an exclusive TV spot for the third entry into the storied [REC] franchise, [REC] 3: Genesis (review). Check it out, and then head immediately to your cable box to wait patiently.

That’s right, kids! Magnet will release the film on VOD August 2nd and then in theaters starting September 7th.

[REC] 3: Genesis Synopsis:
Koldo and Clara are about to celebrate the most important day of their lives: their wedding. Everything appears to be running smoothly, and the bride and groom and their families are enjoying a wonderful day; that is, until some of the guests start showing signs of a strange illness. Before they know what’s happening, the bride and groom find themselves in the middle of a hellish ordeal as an uncontrollable torrent of violence is unleashed on the wedding. Amidst the chaos Koldo and Clara become separated and begin a desperate search for one another. What started off as an idyllic day quickly descends into a nightmare of the worst kind…

    Nothing against the unstoppable Paranormal Activity juggernaut but the REC films blow them out of the water.

      I’ll second that. I’m especially pleased that the directors are willing to risk changes in tone and approach with the series.

      One and Two maybe, but Three really didn’t do it for me at all. I’m all for a change in tone and direction, but it just didn’t feel like a REC film. Biggest disappointment of the year so far.
