Splice on the Verge of Distribution from Dark Castle
Good news today for those of us eager to see Vincenzo (Cube) Natali's Frankenstein-esque new feature Splice! The film looks to be getting one hell of a wide release!
Deadline reports that "Joel Silver and his Dark Castle label [are] in the last stages of closing a distribution deal for the genetic mutation thriller Splice," adding, "It will give the film a wide summer release on 3,000 screens and a P&A commitment north of $25 million, more likely in the vicinity of $35 million to $40 million." Rock and roll, baby!
The flick, starring Adrien Brody, Sarah Polley, Delphine Chaneac, David Hewlett, and Brandon McGibbon, tells the tale of Elsa and Clive, two young rebellious scientists who defy legal and ethical boundaries and forge ahead with a dangerous experiment: splicing together human and animal DNA to create a new organism. Named Dren, the creature rapidly develops from a deformed female infant into a beautiful but dangerous winged human-chimera, who forges a bond with both of her creators - only to have that bond turn deadly.
