Joe Johnston Talks a New Direction for Jurassic Park 4
With The Wolfman right around the corner, director Joe Johnston (Jurassic Park III) has been doing a ton of press to promote the film. But he also took a few moments out to talk a bit about the fourth installment of the Jurassic Park franchise.
During an interview with Hitfix Johnston told the site, "There is an idea now for number four that is different from the first three, and that is more or less the beginning of a new trilogy, in that it sends the whole franchise off in a new direction. It's not about the dinosaur park anymore. It's about all-new characters. So Steven's busy right now with the stuff he's doing and I've got to do 'Captain America', but hopefully afterwards, we'll find time to develop it. And really... it's something different that we haven't seen before in the 'Jurassic Park' world."
So long as some badass dinosaurs are killing each other and people, they can take whatever direction they wish. We need more giant monster movies, damnit!

The prequel to John Carpenter's classic The Thing has landed its first two stars who will surely duke it out with not only the shape shifting alien but also them crazy Swedes.

Again with the trilogies. There's your big red flag right there. The movie isn't even in production yet and all anyone smells is an ongoing paycheck. They are going to have to slap a rocket launcher on a stegosaurus in order to get my attention again. Otherwise I'll stick with the only good Jurassic Park movie, the first.

You're right. We do agree every now and then. I do enjoy the 2nd as a pure popcorn flick. Hate, hate the 3rd.

I agree on the "more giant monster movies" part but can only think a new direction for this means it's going to completely suck. Crichton passed away and so should these movies.
I wonder what Will Smith would be like as Captain America?

He'd basically be a copy of the character from ID4, and he'd mutter his catchphrase "Aw hell naw!" and write a soundtrack set to bubble gum hip hop. It would be a hit!

Shudder to fancy the idea of the fresh prince as Cap'. Agh. That would be horrid.

The rumor I saw was that the "new direction" is having dinosaurs using weapons...Dinosaurs For Hire, anyone?

They should have Raptors on skateboards, whizzing past pedestrians in a Mall, occasionally biting heads off people, whilst in pursuit of a T-Rex stampeding through a Victoria Secret store!

No THAT was the old direction they were going to head. Thankfully everyone passed, although that may have made for some really goofy fun!
