Jackie Earle HaleyThe cast of Jose Padilha’s RoboCop has just expanded by one with the addition of Jackie Earle Haley as a character named Maddox, who’s the guy that dispenses military training to RoboCop. Here’s hoping Padilha gives him more to do than Burton did in Dark Shadows!

The flick sees Joel Kinnaman (“The Killing”) as the title hero, a cop named Alex Murphy who is brought back from the brink of death and turned into a cyborg police officer. Gary Oldman is his scientist-creator, and Samuel L. Jackson is Pat Novak, a charismatic media mogul and a powerful force in the RoboCop world. Also already in place are Hugh Laurie as the evil and ultra-rich CEO of OmniCorp and Abbie Cornish.

Currently the film has a tentative release date of August 9th, 2013.

Synopsis
In RoboCop, the year is 2029 and multinational conglomerate OmniCorp is at the centre of robot technology. Their drones are winning American wars around the globe and now they want to bring this technology to the home front.

Alex Murphy is a loving husband, father, and good cop doing his best to stem the tide of crime and corruption in Detroit. After he is critically injured in the line of duty, OmniCorp utilizes their remarkable science of robotics to save Alex’s life.

He returns to the streets of his beloved city with amazing new abilities but with issues a regular man has never had to face before.

José Padilha (Elite Squad) directs this reimagining of the tale of part man, part machine, all cop.

Man, so many great actors. But still a bad idea. Jackie Earle Haleys a good actor, but look at the Nightmare On Elm Street remake. Need I say more.
