Twilight Fan Tragically Killed at Comic-ConIt’s rare that we cover stories about actual tragedy, but let this sad one serve as a cautionary tale for you folks. Yes, Comic-Con is a big and sometimes overwhelming event that attracts thousands of people from all over the world. Any time an event grows this big, you need to look out for one another.

Fun is fun, but safety is first.

U-T San Diego is reporting that an unidentified woman was hit by a car and killed today outside the San Diego Convention Center while hurrying to keep her place in the lineup for The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part Two panel, which doesn’t take place until Thursday. The 53-year-old female, who was with a group, had been in line since Sunday. She was hit in the crosswalk in front of the Convention Center while trying to run across Harbor Drive toward the Convention Center against the light at about 9:20 a.m. and died this morning at a nearby hospital.

As always, Comic-Con officials have done their best to verbally persuade fans to NOT line up days before the show, until at the very least Preview Night, which is Wednesday, but their pleas fell on deaf ears. Maybe this will change things.

A truly sobering story to say the least. Our condolences go out to her family and friends. Please, guys, be safe and look out for each other out there.
