During this year’s Comic-Con fans can partake in an immersive experience into A&E’s “Coma,” a modern day retelling of the Robin Cook novel and iconic film by Michael Crichton, where they can interact with nurses and doctors from the institute and check out set pieces from the mini-series.

From the Press Release:
Produced by Ridley and Tony Scott, the two-night “Coma” event premieres this Labor Day on A&E. Fans walking the grounds outside of Comic-Con can join the thriller experience of “Coma” from Thursday, July 12th, through Saturday, July 14th, from 11:00 am–9:00 pm on First Avenue and J Street right outside of the San Diego Convention Center. Doctors will be handing out patient bracelets for admittance to the 15,000 square foot “Jefferson Institute,” the ominous leading institute in coma patient care from the mini-series. The “Coma” Experience is free and will include:

Reception – Participants will be greeted by Jefferson Institute nurses who will admit them into The “Coma” Experience. The nurses will guide the visitors to the security monitors so they can get a glimpse of what they’re about to step into as well as see exclusive, first-look footage from the mini-series.

Surgery – Nurses will then take fans to the experiential surgery room where they’ll meet surgeons who will decide if they’re good candidates for the tour. If so, fans will have the option of getting a 3D surgical scar tattoo.

Area 2 – As part of the experience, visitors will be allowed to access The Jefferson Institute’s highly secured Area 2, where they will get a glimpse of the doctors at work. In this room Jefferson Institute human specimens will be on display designed with the chilling look and feel that’s authentic to the mini-series.

Area 8 Green Screen – Finally, visitors will be able to step into Area 8, which will be the end of The Jefferson Institute tour. Area 8 will offer visitors the opportunity to get an up close and personal view of an actual “Coma Pod” that was used in the Ridley and Tony Scott production. In addition, visitors may participate in a green screen photo opportunity that places them into the iconic Coma Pod as if they themselves are the victims of The Jefferson Institute.

A&E Wants to Send You Into a Coma This Coming Labor Day

For a fully immersive experience that extends beyond Comic-Con, fans can go to ComaConspiracy.com, where they will activate a thrilling digital experience. The hacker activists that are trying to take down The Jefferson Institute in the mini-series will invite visitors to join their cause, and opting-in will launch a highly-targeted digital cat-and-mouse game that pulls fans into the heart of the Coma Conspiracy. Here, participants will feel first-hand what it’s like to go up against the all-knowing, all-powerful, and heavily financed Jefferson Institute.

“Coma” is a two-night special event starring James Woods, Geena Davis, Richard Dreyfuss, Ellen Burstyn, Lauren Ambrose (“Six Feet Under”), and Stephen Pasquale (“Rescue Me”) premiering on A&E, Monday, September 3rd, and concluding on Tuesday, September 4th, at 9:00 pm ET/PT each night. In “Coma” a young doctor (Lauren Ambrose) discovers that something sinister is going on in her hospital after routine procedures send more than a few seemingly healthy patients into comas on the operating table.

“Coma” is produced by Sony Pictures Television for A&E Network. Executive producers are Ridley Scott, Tony Scott, David W. Zucker, Martin Erlichman and Mikael Salomon.

Published

on

Earlier this week we let you guys know that there is a killer The Strangers: Prey at Night fan art competition going on and you can read all the details on that right HERE.

But today we have some cool (if expected) news that The Strangers: Prey At Night hs officially received an R-rating from the MPAA.

The sequel has been rated R for “horror violence and terror throughout, and for language” and I think that makes about as much sense as we could have expected.

For those who are interested in such bits of trivia, the original The Strangers was rated R for “violence/terror and language” so there you go! Impress your friends with MPAA trivia.

Would The Strangers: Prey at Night getting a PG-13 have affected your enthusiasm for the upcoming film? Let us know below!

The Stranger: Prey at Night is directed by Johannes Roberts (47 Meters Down) from a script by Bryan Bertino and Ben Ketai. It stars Martin Henderson, Christina Hendricks, Bailee Madison, and Lewis Pullman.

Artist Reimagines Superheroes as Tim Burton Illustrations

Published

on

The world of Tim Burton has always been full of imagination and wonder built on a surreal and often horrific foundation. Films like Beetlejuice and Sleepy Hollow capture the imagination with stunning visuals, all based on the mind of the visionary director. Burton’s artwork was also featured in his illustrated poetry book The Melancholy Death of Oyster Boy & Other Stories.

Burton’s work has not only amazed viewers for over three decades, it’s also been an inspiration to countless artists and creators. Enter Los Angeles-by-way-of-Russia artist and animator Andrew Tarusov, whose work has been used by companies such as Cosmopolitan, Disney, 20th Century Fox, Maxim, and more. In a series he simply calls “Tim Burton’s Superheros”, Tarusov took 10 of the biggest comic book characters and gave them a dark twist that is 100% befitting of Burton’s style.

You can see a gallery of these images below. To see more of Tarusov’s work, head on over to his official website.
