By Saturday night at Comic-Con, most people are just looking for a place to sit down, and we have word on where you can do so…and catch the premiere of The Amazing Adventures of the Living Corpse, a new animated film based on the comic book from Dynamite Entertainment.
From the Press Release:
The nature of the superhero making its transition from the sublime pages of comic books to the magical screens of cinema is slightly unique this time around. For starters, the title character isn’t your typical caped crusader – he’s a zombie. And he’s not just a typical zombie, either. He’s a contentious, imposing citizen of the walking dead club with an intact memory from when he was alive and a mission to protect the Earth from other brain-sucking flesh-eaters.
The movie will screen on Saturday, July 14th, at 8:45 PM at the San Diego Marriott Marina Hotel next to the Convention Center in Marina Ballroom D. In attendance with the audience will be the creators of the comic, Buz Hasson and Ken Haeser; the director of the movie, Justin Paul Ritter; and Morris Ruskin, the film’s veteran producer. They will introduce the movie and will be available for a question-and-answer session afterward. Other notables from the production will also be on hand before and after the screening.
It is rare to see an independent film formally invited to a venue dominated by the studios with their mega-budget productions. Produced by Shoreline Entertainment, The Amazing Adventures of the Living Corpse took three years to animate and was rendered in state-of-the-art RealD 3D. Earlier this year it screened for a focus group in Los Angeles to an amazing 90% audience approval rating.
“A zombie superhero has never been done before,” Ruskin says. “We’re excited about the finished product and super-excited to share it with the greatest audience in the world, the fans of Comic-Con.”
On Friday, July 13th (Friday the 13th!), Corpse himself will participate in the annual Zombie Walk at 5:30 PM in San Diego’s historic Gaslamp Quarter, where thousands of fans in zombie make-up will walk the streets en route to Comic-Con at the Convention Center on W. Harbor Drive. Other special events to promote the movie are also in the works, including an after-party, a staged zombie invasion, and a brain-eating contest.
The Adventures of the Living Corpse is set to release worldwide on Halloween 2012. For more info visit the official The Adventures of the Living Corpse website, and “like” The Adventures of the Living Corpse on Facebook.
